In this moment I have become obsessed with SEAWEED! It has captured my imagination holds fast and all I can do is see it through. I have done digital drawings, drawings, paintings, monoprints, photographs, I have even physically painted the seaweed itself. And it continues. My very favorite kind is Rockweed with its sinuous branched fronds and perfect oval-shaped it sacks. One day while exploring the tide pools on the Southern Maine coast I found clusters of phosphorescent seaweed, it glowed blue in the daylight! This was a very magical experience for me. There is so much about our world that we really know nothing about even though it is right there in plain sight. I want to discover more. the pieces I submitted for this exhibition are created using old/failed monoprints that have been shut up, collaged onto repurposed panels and then the negative spaces painted to reveal seaweed forms.
