I was recently invited to participate in a print collaboration called: One and Two by David Dellafiora in Australia. I have been collaborating with him for many years for his mailart project WIPE. I was to receive two prints from student artists to then add to/alter and return for exhibition.
The first print, by Ben, is a meticulously rendered lovely image of a cat which I decided should live in the flower garden. I am most fond of the first pass with only the green color showing, But there is no going back and since I was not very impressed with the addition of the orange, it needed something more, I added teal. and developed the layers so that the cat is deep in the garden.
The second print, by Holly, is of a mysterious female figure overall it is monochrome. I felt she was trying to escape from this realm and so made many additions: paint, collaged cut up prints, drawing, etc... to bring her to the foreground and illuminate the action of her mind - thoughts travelling out and around her gaze - a mystery still...
