Painted Toothpaste Tubes
WHY? you might ask!
Well, while visiting Mass MOCA and enjoying a beer in their outdoor courtyard I spied an Art-O-Mat! which is one of the coolest ideas: a repurposed vintage cigarette vending machine that dispenses cigarette pack sized artwork! The best thing on offer was a painted paint tube, which my husband, Peter, purchased for me for my birthday. It was also the most expensive item at $50.00. Which isn't all that much money for an original work of art. The prices ranged from $5.00 to $50.00... Now, if there is one thing you should know about me it is that I primarily used repurposed materials for my art. And I just happened to have never thrown out a single toothpaste tube since moving to Biddeford in 2000. I know, I know, I'm weird! Well, my mind did it's usual contortions, and i put two and two together, and voila! I have now begun a new series of Painted Toothpaste Tubes! Check them out. I will be making more of course and adding images to this page periodically. |
