Spoonflower Designs
I truly love taking one thing and making something else out of it. Or transforming that thing into something new. ...In 1964, Jasper Johns wrote himself a note in his sketchbook: “Take an object / Do something to it / Do something else to it. [Repeat.]”
I LOVE this philosophy and can riff off of it for days and days! So when I discovered Spoonflower, I was so excited I just had to play! Spoonflower allows anyone to upload their own designs into their platform and then they print those designs onto fabric, or wallpaper.
I have experimented with both. For an exhibition titled: Maine Flora 3 Views, I chose one of my prints to replicate and mirror, and created a wall paper installation. Then when the show came down, installed it in my bathroom, because... why no?
I also had fabric made using one of my early monoprints, just because, and used it as a shower curtain for a few years.
The possibilities are endless! And one could make items for sale, but I'm pretty sure my aesthetic does not have mass appeal ;)
